    Best Yoga Studios To Visit

Now you’re all set, let’s go straight away to the list of recommended yoga studios in different parts of the world.

    EUROPE

    Best Yoga Studio in Berlin

    Jivamukti

Berlin’s Jivamukti Yoga School is ideal for modern yogis. And if you’re a big fan of Moby and Beatles music, this is the place to be.  When you travel to Berlin and in need of reconnecting to yourself, get good vibes and amazing experiences at Jivamukti.

    • Why it's special: What’s unique about Jivamukti is that it offers a modern form of Hatha Yoga, incorporating vinyasa techniques, meditation, relaxation, and some philosophical teachings.

    • Where it is: Located in Berlin Kreuzberg, just at the border to Neukölln, Jivamukti offers daily yoga classes and other events.

    • Tips: If you’re a beginner, you don’t have to worry because the instructors are super helpful.  Many of those who tried at Jivamukti as beginners always leave fulfilled and equipped with new yoga skills.

    Best Yoga Studio in Paris

    YUJ

    YUJyoga.jpg

YUJ yoga studio only offers the coziest experience you’ll have. It is one of the coolest yoga studios in the world with excellent teachers that will make you feel at home. Nervous about your first time? Don’t worry. You will be served tea to help you relax before and after your practice.

If you’re to pick a class, a recommendation would be with Alex Avila for a dynamic yoga class. For a rather less intense but still challenging class, look for Manon.

Why it’s special: YUJ is the first-ever French yoga studio to make use of infrared lights to heat up the room. This is beneficial for your practice since the heat can prevent injuries, improve your flexibility, and effectively detoxify since you’ll be sweating a lot more.

On top of that, there’s a great playlist to make your session more enjoyable, especially when you’re doing it with friends.

Where it is: Head to the base of the Eiffel Tower in the 7th District and you can find the yoga studio. YUJ outposts are also located in the 1st, 9th, 16th, and 17th districts.

Tips: YUJ has its own ethical brand, just in case you need to purchase a new outfit.

    Little Yoga Space

    Little Yoga Space.jpg

Warm, inviting, charming - these are three words that can perfectly describe Lisbon’s Little Yoga Space. And yes, take it literally - it’s a small yoga studio but one that can offer you a great sense of peace. Thanks to the skilled, warm teachers, you will always feel welcomed.

Why it’s special: It may only be a small space but you can find the connection and healing you’re looking for right here. Besides regular classes for all skill levels, Little Yoga Space also has candlelit yoga and meditation as well as sound meditation for healing.

Where it is:  From the Baixa-Chiado Metro stop, take a 5-minute walk and you’ll find this lovely yoga center.

Tips: Don’t miss out on a class with Martina - one of the most loved teachers in Little Yoga Space. And if you have to do yoga here, it’s highly encouraged to get their Thai massage.

    Best Yoga Studio in London

    Triyoga

Only want the top yoga studio in London? Head straight to Triyoga, the city’s leading yoga and wellness center. Tri Yoga focuses on the trinity of meditation: asana, pranayama, and mudra. Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned yogi, or even a kid and whatever practice you want to focus on, Tri Yoga has it.

    Best Yoga Studio in Portsmouth

    Lano Yoga

LANO is one of the few studios in England that offer Forrest yoga. Karl, a teacher I practiced with, was brilliant and inspiring. Now Phoebe has taken over and brought her own intense yet calming take to the practice. My other favourite class is 26 and 2, the newly-named Bikram yoga.

Why Is It Special: At LANO you can sign up for a great priced membership where you can join unlimited. Or you can just pop in for a one-off class if you're just in Portsmouth on holiday. Obviously the unlimited deal works out as fantastic value but sometimes you just can't commit to going every day. You can also buy 10-class passes if that suits you better.

Mats and drinks are available to buy and there's a real community feel there. The studio also offers massages and treatments upstairs and although I haven't had a chance to indulge, yet I know that if they're as good as the teaching, you'll feel bright and refreshed after.

Where It Is: LANO studio is located on Elm Grove in Southsea, Portsmouth. It's about a ten-minute walk from the station and another ten minutes to the beach. The studio is an independent local business with just one other branch in nearby Chichester.

Tips: We have some great weather here in Southsea so they'll sometimes take classes to the beach, or put them on on the studio decking outside. So, prepare for a session of outdoor yoga.

    Best Yoga Studio in Amsterdam

    Delight Yoga

As you walk in, you will start feeling more relaxed. That’s the kind of vibe Delight Yoga gives off.  The beautiful studio and the awesome energy here makes your yoga experience amazing. And of course, I cannot commend the teachers enough - they are all wonderful and they want to make sure you feel fine.

Why it’s special: I have to say it’s one of the most beautiful yoga studios in the world. The bright and airy room and the gorgeous interior design will inspire and motivate you more during practice. And of course, it makes you feel relaxed and at ease. Not only that, it has a garden and a relaxation lounge - perfect to calm those nerves.

Where it is: You can find Delight Yoga in the heart of Amsterdam, as well as in Den Haag. Their latest studio (also their 4th!) is in Prinseneiland, which is only a really short walk from Haarlemmerplein.

Tips: They offer unlimited access to different yoga classes led by expert teachers offline and online. Try the Delight Introduction Card, which is a pass for 5 yoga classes valid for one month at only €50.

    Best Yoga Studio in Switzerland

    AIRYOGA, Zurich

If you’re looking for a beautiful and welcoming yoga studio in Switzerland’s largest city, look no further than AIRYOGA.

I have tried many yoga studios in the 7 years I have been living in Zurich, but AIRYOGA is by far my favorite one.

It has the best atmosphere and the biggest variety of yoga styles in Zurich, from Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Anusara, Ayur, and Restorative Yoga, to Prenatal, Baby, and Senior Yoga.

They also offer meditation and pranayama classes, as well as online yoga classes.

Most classes are taught in English, so if you’re a traveler, digital nomad, or expat there’s no excuses to skip your yoga practice while in Zurich.

Most importantly, all teachers working at AIRYOGA are certified, very experienced and attentive, so you can be sure you are in good hands.

I especially recommend the Hatha Flow with Deep Relaxation on Wednesday evenings, with the very friendly instructor Diana Schöpplein.

But there are classes for all levels and moods, seven days a week, from early in the morning to late in the evening.

AIRYOGA has not one, but two spacious and cool yoga studios in Zurich – one in the picturesque Old Town and a second one in the hip Zurich West district.

If you’re a yogi visiting Zurich, you can buy a single class, for 30 Swiss Francs, or an Intro Pass for new students (valid for both studios and 3 classes of your choice), for only 75 Swiss Francs.

Yoga mats are available and are free of charge. Or check out my list of the best travel yoga mats here and bring your own, for a more comfortable and safe practice.

Best Yoga Studio in New York City

    Yoga Vida

Some of the best yoga in the world is in New York! I highly recommend Yoga Vida, the studio where I did my teacher training. And I have to note - I loved doing my training with them. Whenever I travel to New York, I always come back to the studio. Personally, I think they have the best programs in New York.

If you are planning to become a yoga teacher, Yoga Vida is a great start. I have to let you know that it can be very tiring to do teacher training because of the intense physical experience. But in the end, it will be all so worth it.

    • Why it’s special: What I love about Yoga Vida NYC is that a few students will share a mentor teacher. You also get to practice with this group, which means you also have someone to discuss the sequences with. You’ll be part of a whole international yoga community composed of warm people

    • Where it is: There are four yoga studios in New York: Union Square, Tribeca, NoHo, and DUMBO.

    • Tips: Planning to visit New York in the summer? Be on the lookout for Yoga Vida’s Bonus summer classes.

    Best Yoga Studio in Nebraska

    Karma Yoga, Omaha, Nebraska

One of the best yoga studios in the US is in my hometown of Omaha, NE. Karma Yoga is the studio you should try if you're ever in town!  I love Karma because the teachers are SO welcoming. You don't have to be a yoga expert to practice at Karma Yoga. They get that it's a "practice" and they want to teach you. I also really love the fact that people of all ages practice at Karma: It's not just 20-somethings with perfect bodies.  Karma has men and women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Everyone can feel welcomed at this studio

Karma is special to me because of the awesome teachers. I've been to other studios where the vibe was way less welcoming and Karma offers something for everyone. They have everything from hot flow to yin to chair yoga. They also offer classes every day of the week and online, too. I like the fact that I can take a class as early as 5:45 am or as late as 7 pm.  And, I've tried their online classes and I like those too.

Another reason this place is special is because of their little boutique filled with all the cutest yoga outfits and other essentials for your practice.

Karma's owner is Lisa Kanne and she's one of the best yoga teachers out there. She teaches a really in-depth beginner's class that I started with. She really got me comfortable with yoga and learning different poses. Now I like to take the Hot 26 class she teaches. She's very hands-on and so knowledgeable about yoga. I feel like I'm definitely growing in my yoga practice with Lisa as a teacher. She will welcome you to her studio, also she offers a great 2 week pass for around $20. You can come to as many classes as you'd like in a two week period to get a real feel for the studio and see if it suits you!

    Best Yoga Studio in California

Sivananda Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, California

Have you ever been to a place to do yoga and felt an instant positive vibration, something that can not un-notice? While I have felt this in many yoga studios, this vibration was just so energetic the whole time I was in Sivananda Yoga Farm in Grass Valley in California. While living in the United States on a work visa, I volunteered there for a month and attended yoga classes almost every day for free.

While they offer teacher training courses, foundational courses, and long-term yoga vacations, you can simply drop by for a daily yoga class. The class lasts for two hours consisting of breathing exercises, sun salutation, and other yoga asanas. The teachers can change depending on the time of the year but be assured that they are all very experienced and wonderful. What I also like is how the teachers periodically remind the class to follow the rhythm and to know one’s limitations and not force the practice. If you have any injuries or health conditions, the teachers can adapt and adjust the postures for you.

You can carry your own yoga mat or borrow one from the ashram. They also have cushions that you can borrow.

The daily classes are conducted at 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. One class costs $15, but I would strongly recommend you go for the $35 package that comes with two yoga classes, two vegetarian meals, access to the Ashram grounds, and Satsang. The food that they make is simply amazing. And you would love the pond inside the ashram, the permaculture vegetable garden, and the company of the elegant alpacas out there.

Situated in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, the yoga farm is an hour's drive from Sacramento and a little more than two hours from San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.

    Best Yoga Studio in Texas

    Black Swan Yoga

My favorite yoga studio in Austin is without a doubt Black Swan Yoga. BSY teaches hot vinyasa classes, along with regular workshops and an excellent teacher training program.

There are multiple locations across Austin and the studio’s presence has grown statewide with locations in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. The style of yoga they teach is hot vinyasa. Rooms are heated to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit so that is something very important to keep in mind before attending their classes.

What I love most about Black Swan is its complete lack of pretension. The teachers are friendly and approachable, always greeting you with a smile. Black Swan classes are attainable for everyone with donation-based pricing. Come as you are and give what you can. If you’d like to be a regular, there are also reasonable monthly membership rates. Keep an eye on their Instagram pages for special events like outdoor classes in the summer or attend one of their retreats in exciting destinations like Tulum or Costa Rica.

Visit their newer East Austin location for an early morning class on the weekend and stay in the area for brunch afterward. Tamale House East and Juan in a Million are two Tex-Mex must-try brunch spots in East Austin that would be the perfect way to end your yoga class.

A special feature of Black Swan is its online platform. As someone who lives abroad, BSY.tv is one of my favorite online yoga programs to practice yoga from anywhere in the world. I love flowing with my favorite teachers even from 5,000 miles away, and at $8 a month, it’s a steal.

Whether you practice in person or online, all of the teachers are excellent and you’ll love the experience.

    Best Yoga Studio in Mexico

    O2 Yoga

    SOUTH AMERICA

Best Yoga Studio in Costa Rica

    Harmony Hotel, Nosara

Harmony Hotel in Nosara, Costa Rica is one of our favourites places to practice yoga. Nestled into the jungle, this stunning open air studio promotes tranquility, well being, and sustainability. Travel and Leisure even named it one of the top 5 yoga studios in Costa Rica and we couldn’t help but agree.

Harmony Hotel offers many different styles of yoga classes and for all levels. Some more traditional yoga styles they offer include intermediate vinyasa, mindful vinyasa, restorative yoga and hatha “harmony” yoga. They also offer a chance for yogi’s to try aerial yoga using a “hammock” which is a bit of fabric to help suspend participants in the air.

Another interesting class they hold is Qigong. This practice is sometimes likened to mediation in movement. Traditional meditation classes are also offered mainly in the morning hours.

The yoga instructors are very attentive and will help adjust you into position. They come from Costa Rica and abroad but share a deep love for their practises which is evident in their classes.

After class stop by the Harmony Hotel juice bar for nourishing food and drinks. 25% of the food comes from the hotel’s sustainable farming project. The project was started in 2009 and led by three experienced local farmers. After the food is used in the restaurant, the scraps are returned to the farm to be used as fertilizer.

Nosara itself is a place which promotes well being, so it is only natural that yoga would go hand in hand with that. If you are even in the area, drop by Harmony Hotel for a class!

Where it is: You can find the studios in two locations: Palermo and San Telmo, which are known as a neighborhood for backpackers and expats.

    Best Yoga Studio in Cambodia

    Banteay Srey Project in Kampot

When seeking recommendations for Kampot in Cambodia from fellow backpackers I was told about the Banteay Srey Project. It is home to a yoga studio, spa, and café, but it is more than just all that, and that’s what made me love it so much. It’s located in a really beautiful spot overlooking the Preaek Tuek Chhu river, surrounded by tropical jungle, making for the ideal spot for a morning yoga class.

What makes Banteay Srey special is that it was built as a social enterprise and vocational training center. According to their website, their mission is ‘to provide vulnerable Cambodian women with community leadership opportunities and a hopeful future’. Local Khmer women are provided with training and fair paid jobs. Most of the trainees and employees have come from impoverished villages so the opportunity for them to develop their skills and earn money in a safe environment.

Yoga at Banteay Srey costs 5$ per session, every cent of which goes to support the project. All yoga teachers at the studio are volunteers so all the money raised from classes also goes towards the project. Free yoga classes are also offered to the Khmer women training at Banteay Srey.

Morning yoga classes are held every day at 9 am and I found this to be the perfect way to start your day in Kampot. The on-site Deva Café sells amazing brunch options which are ideal to enjoy after your session. I highly recommend the ‘Full Vegan’ breakfast and the carrot cake smoothie.

    Best Yoga Studio in Indonesia

    The Yoga Barn, Bali

The Yoga Barn Bali offers the most popular yoga classes in Ubud. I entered through the back road and it was a little long, and as soon as you walk on the property it feels like you are in a totally different world. The environment, atmosphere and surroundings are absolutely breathtaking.

This Ubud yoga studio provides such a zen atmosphere that you will love! The yoga classes they provide are completed in a beautiful tall treehouse made from bamboo. I went in the evening, and it was very relaxing listening to the sounds of the rainforest around me while doing yoga. When you walk around the property, there are yogis in their natural environment practicing handstands and other yoga poses. It is a very cool experience!

Some people travel to Yoga Barn just to get their yoga certification and stay on-site for months while completing the certification. They provide an incredible environment that only has three things in mind, the body, mind, and soul!

My insider tip is definitely the Garden Kafe and juice bar. Who can finish a yoga class and go to a juice bar within a few steps? I love this idea because, after an outdoors yoga class, you are hot and sweaty! The Garden Kafe offers everything health conscious! There are definitely tons of options to feed your body with a ton of nutrients.

There is also a cute gift shop near the front desk with some great items. I bought a vacation essential, Indosole flip flops. Indonsole is a company that makes flip flips out of recycled tires to help alleviate Indonesia’s pollution problem. Indonsole has created this footwear with people and the Earth in mind. They are comfortable, waterproof, and saving our Earth all at the same time. Overall, The Yoga Barn was one of my best experiences in Bali!

    Best Yoga Studio in Australia

    Yoga 213, Melbourne

When living in Melbourne, Australia, I fell head over heels in love with Yoga 213 in Richmond, Australia's first Hip Hop Yoga studio. The studio owner, Sammy Veall, opened Yoga 213 after falling in love with Yoga during a class with the well-known Steve Ross in LA in 2012.

The motto of Yoga 213 is simple and beautiful, 'To Be Happy' and Sammy helps all her students to achieve mindfulness and happiness through yoga styles based on mood and music. The famous 'Hip Hop Yoga' class, a fluid vinyasa flow, is set to loud, strong hip hop, r'n'b, disco, acoustic, electronic, and reggae and was an entirely different approach to any yoga class I'd ever tried.

I loved performing an abs workout with Biggie's Hypnotize pumping in the background! Despite what some people may think, I actually found it easier to really connect to my body and the poses whilst singing along to well-known tracts, and it was incredibly invigorating.

I also loved their relaxing, 'Chill Yoga' class, featuring a slower vinyasa flow set to calmer reggae, acoustic, folk, and disco tunes. Yoga 213 also offers the chance to practice to music all for a higher reason with their donation classes, choosing a new charity to donate to every 3 months. The studio also regularly arranges retreats, either locally within Australia in stunning Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula or further afield at locations including Bali, Fiji, and Morocco which makes it one of the best yoga studios in Melbourne.

If visiting Yoga 213 on a weekend, make sure you visit nearby Pillar of Salt for brunch and enjoy their unique breakie selection and delicious coffee for a proper Melbourne experience.
